Dear Senator/Rep _______________ , I am a constituent of the Senator/Rep in District ___ and I am member of _____________ (e.g. Jewish Voice for Peace/member of WPC/concerned citizen).

I would like to arrange a meeting to discuss repealing the anti boycott law passed in 2017, MN Statutes 3.226 and 16C.053, which denies state contracts with MN companies from exercising
their First Amendment rights by requiring they agree to not boycott Israel. This law violates all Minnesotans’ their free speech rights.

Last year, Senator Sandra Pappas authored a bill to repeal this legislation in the MN Senate SF 3356; this year Representative Kristi Pursell has authored HF3258, a companion bill to the
Senate one. BOTH bills have advanced to committees for consideration when the next legislative session opens in February 2026.

The 2017 law is being used as a template for restricting boycotts of other issues and should concern legislators of all political persuasions. Boycotts have been used by many people to
express political views in favor or opposed to various issues, such as civil rights, opposing the South Africa apartheid regime, environmental activities, and reproductive rights.

Restricting boycotts restricts our First Amendment rights. This law sets a dangerous precedent for other laws threatening issues important to you ___________ (list interests from their web page).

Please let me know when you would have time to meet with me.

Thank you. I look forward to hearing from you soon!
